The programme of Young Leaders’ Forum (YLF) in 2020 is focusing on the impact of innovation, technology, and science on the future of water sector and environment. There are two main topics to be discussed in different formats during the forum: the responsibility of social media and the internet in influencing public perceptions of environmental issues, and the role of science, technology, and innovation in shaping the future of water as a key global resource.
- The first part of the programme is focusing on the impact of social media and smart applications on public awareness about environmental issues and the question of fake news. How social media can affect our way of thinking about environmental questions? How smart applications can shape our lifestyle and consumer behaviour? Who is responsible for the enormous amount of environment-related fake news and disinformation, and how we can tackle this challenge?
- The second part of the conference will bring together experts to discuss the future of water as a key global resource. What are the main challenges and possibilities in the water sector? How technology and innovation can contribute to solve water-related challenges? Do we have enough knowledge and resources, and if not, what is the missing element?
As YLF is about embracing the inner leadership potential of our selected participants, the programme also includes panels, workshops, and face-to-face/small group consultations with an expert to make it possible for participants to develop their leadership skills and gain more practical knowledge.
Interconnection with the think.BDPST 2020 Conference
The programme of YLF is designed to allow young leaders to attend selected panels of the concurrently held think.BDPST conference. This kind of interconnection gives the opportunity for YLF participants to meet prominent lecturers, decision-makers from the public policy and business sectors and NGO, as well as high profile politicians and diplomats, take part actively in discussions with them, and engage in the Questions and Answers sessions of the debates.
